Alcohol Problems And Treatment

There has been a big rise in the number of people in the North West suffering with liver disease, a study which was conducted by The North West Public Observatory found that the main reason for this was down to alcohol addiction and obesity. It was found that the liver disease death rate was 42% higher than the national average.

What Is The Cause Of This?

Alcohol was the cause of 47% of the fatalities in men and 43% in women and it was said to have affected more people living in deprived areas. The question is how are the more deprived people dying from liver disease affording to spend money on alcohol? Cheap alcohol needs to be targeted and a minimum price for alcohol would do this, this is something that is currently being tested. It is said that around a quarter of the UK population are drinking too much but probably do not realise they have an alcohol problem and probably need alcohol treatment. It is important that people realise they need treatment, liver disease develops silently and there are no signs or symptoms as the liver has no pain fibres until disease is very far advanced. The sooner you realise that there is a problem the better.

Once it has been identified that there is a problem the problem must then be treated. Being treated works differently for everyone there are different ways that alcohol problems can be treated but the most effective is a alcohol rehab centre or alcohol clinic.
