Plastic Surgery in Dubai

The International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) has found that in 2011 alone there were 1,1268,287 liposuctions and 3,179,652 botox procedures worldwide. The demand for plastic surgery seems insatiable.

Plastic surgery is big business for Dubai, it has seen a dramatic rise in its medical tourism due to the lower costs and the opportunity to recover in luxury before flying home.

If you are thinking about having plastic surgery in Dubai, the first thing you need to do is your homework. Ensure you know exactly what you want done, check out different procedures and discuss with your GP your plans. You must be physically fit and mental prepared for the surgery.

Top Tips

  • Check that your facility speaks your language fluently so that you can communicate all your issues and worries before and after the surgery with ease. Medical terminology might get lost in translation.
  • Find out what will happen if things go wrong. For example, does the surgeon offer after care? Does your travel insurance cover the cost of problems that might arise from a planned treatment abroad? Will you be able to extend your trip if you are unable to fly? Including whether your work will allow you a few days extra annual leave should you not arrive back in the UK on the expected date.
  • Make sure you are comfortable with the surgeon providing your care; try to meet with your surgeon before hand as often as you can even if you are going abroad for the surgery. This will also allow you to find out their credentials.
  • Who will care for you in your initial recovery? You will need someone with you not only for support and comfort but also to help you recover from the surgery and help you on the plane as you are likely to be fragile and less able to get yourself about depending on the kind of surgery that you have had.
  • Ask to see before and after photos from previous procedures that they have done, that way it will give you a better idea of their experience and their capabilities.
